In other news, Robot Camel Jockeys.
In response to alegations of horific abuse of child camel jockeys, robots have been built to act as camel jockeys in the notorious Camel Races in the Arab countries of the Middle East. Apparently, this has been going on for a few years now, but I find it amusing beyond measure. The robots are designed to pull the reigns with one "hand", whip the camels with the other, and shout invectives (presumably in Arabic) at the camels during the race. And, Robot Jockies don't grow or otherwise gain weight, so it is not recessary to starve them half to death like they were doing with the child camel jockies.

Don't forget the "perfume" they spray on them so the camels will accept that they're real!

That was my favorite part of the article.

They slather them in B.O. fumes.

hee. robots. hee. camels.

It really is glorious.

I have this glorious picture in my head of one of the smelly robots strapped George Bush's back, yelling pre-recorded arabic curses and whipping him with a camel goad. Were it only true. . .

Correction: that is the most *awesome* thing you've found on the interweb all week.

I guarantee you, sometime tomorrow at work, I will incorporate the phrase "Robot Camel Jockeys for the win!" into an email to one of my leads. And include the picture.

You totally left out the best part.

The robot camel jockeys are coming under fire for idolatry.

In Islam, it's forbidden to depict a human being, and the robots have faces. They're getting pressure form extreme religious sects to remove the faces. This is upsetting the camels, who don't do as well without a face on the jockey, which is interesting in itself.

I propose we start a cult of the robot camel jockeys. Immediately. I mean, they have faces. Like idols. So we should worship them.

If I ever find evidence of an idolatrous arab group worshiping robot camel jockies it will make for the greatest blog post in the history of the world.
